Norge Førerkort

Apparently this is my new name

. For those of you not fluent in Norwegian it means Norway Driver’s licence
. I was given this name after I presented my licence as ID to view some microfilm from the University of Melbourne archives. After signing several forms, I was locked into a reading room
. It was open for anyone to enter, but to leave, you had to be buzzed out.
Although I felt very scholarly sitting there and scrolling through the (literally) nauseating material (scrolling microfilm has a tendency to induce motion sickness), I didn’t actually find anything useful this time
. I can now only hope that what I have found at the State library is enough to base my paper on.
In the evening I went for a free comedy night – free for those staying at YHA, anyway
. It turned out to be some sort of talent competition, so no heckling allowed. A good night, even if some of the contenders weren’t actually funny and definitely need to stick to their day jobs. Still, it was better than any stand-up comedy I’ve been to in Norway. Not quite the Chuckle Club in London, but a good night out.
